Body Image

Seeking Courageous People for Photo Essay

I'm currently working on a photo essay project that I hope will serve to whittle away at the American disease of low self-esteem in relation to body image. An objective of this challenging assignment is to provide a healing aid and unrelenting mirror to not only the men and women who model but those who will be exposed to the powerful images I intend to create.

I'm seeking men and women, all over the age of 18, that have or are experiencing low self esteem, either as personal experience or as a witness (from the perspective of a brother/sister, father/mother, husband/wife, etc) to those experiencing low self esteem and an erroneous body image. Participants will be asked to be brave enough to model in the nude or semi-nude to, in simplicity, expose the flaws in our self esteem and illustrate our inner beauty. This declaration of vulnerability will explore, for viewer and participant, the complexity of our beauty..despite or because of our flaws.

I'd like to give these courageous participants a photographic opportunity to confront their fears of their own body image. This is a very emotional project and requires the courage and participation of men and women who are ready to take on what this photographic experience will entail; in terms of exposing vulnerabilities to the photographer and the camera for the ultimate purpose of public exhibition and publication.

I am currently offering free regular portrait sessions in exchange for participation in this project.
